Open Doors reports that two Christians have been shot dead on the Philippines.

Two Christian leaders have been shot dead in the space of less than three weeks in Sulu, a small archipelago in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Mario Acidre, a local pastor in Jolo, Sulu, was shot six times in his own home on 27 August by unidentified gunmen. He was rushed to hospital but had to wait 14 hours for a blood transfusion. Although he survived surgery, his kidney failed and he died as a result.
Mario was a lay pastor at the Jolo Evangelical Alliance Church. During the last days of his life, he shared the gospel with Muslim parents in a local school. A relative said that rumours had been circulating in the neighbourhood about Mario being a military asset disguised as a pastor.
On the eve of his death, Mario prayed for the safety of all Christian workers in Jolo. A number of Christian workers in the area have received threats since his death.
