Considering Context Leads To Singing Psalms In New Testament Praise And Worship | The Heidelblog

I consider Psalmody to be an essential part of Christian Worship, and we use the psalms extensively in our church services. In an article on the Heidelblog, R Scott Clarke, considers psalm-singing in context.  and argues that the canonical psalms should be more prominent in the context of our worship.

Here’s a great quote from the article,

“Songs written by uninspired writers, however much we find them personally inspiring, are not God’s Word.  They are a part of God’s general providence, but so are songs by the Rolling Stones.  Non-canonical hymns have no intrinsic authority, and relatively little as compared to God’s Word..”
